What to do with your spare time…

What spare time? Yeah, who has that? Well, one thing you can do is sit down at your computer and read our blog. Another is you could read a good book. What do I do (besides writing on the blog)? I drive cars to make them break. Sometimes called being a test driver. I’m not allowed to tell you which German luxury car manufacturer’s cars we drive, but they are nice.

We drive the city streets and highways in and around Las Vegas, NV and it can be an adventure. It doesn’t pay much, but it gives me the chance to feel like a rich guy, ha, ha…

Avoiding Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) While Traveling

Secrets To Avoiding DVT While Traveling.

We truly appreciate when medical professionals share information with us mere mortals. Katrina Wells is a registered nurse and provides this information about a problem seniors can experience while sitting for a long time on an airplane, train, bus or riding in a car. She is a feature writer for Seniors’ Health/Medicare.

This information will be helpful for anyone traveling, not just seniors.

DVT is known by many names. Here are some of them:

  • DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis)
  • Traveler’s Thrombosis
  • Pulmonary Embolus or PE (if the blood clot travels to the lung)
  • Pulmonary Emboli (plural of the above)

John and Jeanette Celebrate 46th

Jeanette and I  went to Disneyland for our 46th wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. We have annual passes and go at least 4 times a year from our home in Nevada. Most of the time we go with family, but this time it was just the two of us. It was a much slower pace, because we didn’t have to rush anywhere. We went on the rides we both wanted to and saw the attractions we wanted to see.

Our favorite attraction is at The Golden Horseshoe where Billy Hill and the Hillbillies put on an awesome show. For years, we didn’t bother going in there because The Golden Horseshoe has been there since Disneyland opened in 1955 (my parents took me there when it first opened) and well, it didn’t seem important to see some old can-can type of show. One of my co-workers told me about Billy Hill and the Hillbillies and I wanted to see them just from his description. The first time we saw them, my family didn’t really want to bother, but I persisted and son of a gun if they didn’t love the show. It is a must on each trip. One time I even took the entire day and sat in the front row for every performance (six a day). I highly recommend this show.

We are looking forward to a trip in October this year and want to see the new World Of Color at California Adventure.
